Casa da Música open doors to all

The open house days at Casa da Música, in Porto, are back. From 16 to 20 January there are lectures, concerts, rehearsals and even a non-stop night, all with free admission.

The doors of Casa da Música will be open from 16 to 20 January. This repeats an initiative that has become popular and aims to showcase the building and those who work there. The initiative is free, but tickets are limited to 2 per person on the same day.

The initiative kicks off at 11.30am on Wednesday with a talk preceding the Casa da Música Choir rehearsal, which is also open to the public. Besides watching the resident companies’ rehearsals, spectators also have the opportunity to see film cycles, installations and live performances.

On its website, Casa da Música stresses that this is “an invitation for everyone to come and get to know Casa da Música more closely and attend open rehearsals, lectures, guided tours, installations, dance, cinema and performances for families, free of charge. One of the most challenging novelties is a Special Non-Stop Night, with concerts in Suggia Hall, DJ performances and other attractions until dawn. Get to know the various proposals we have for you and join us, from 16th to 20th January, at Casa Aberta”.

The night from Saturday to Sunday promises a lot of animation and a lot of public. It will be non-stop until Sunday imposes itself. “The premise of this night is simple: music cannot stop. In three spaces in the Casa you can hear proposals from bands and DJs that range from jazz to electronica, hip hop and ragga, not forgetting the hottest sounds of Latin music that the New World has brought us. The night only ends after a cup of hot chocolate, the famous drink of the gods so loved by the peoples of Central America. In parallel the Café broadcasts documentaries associated with New World music produced by Red Bull Music throughout the evening.”
