Lumina: the luminous nights of Cascais

This weekend, at night, all roads lead to Cascais. The Lumina Festival of Light will once again amaze the many thousands of people who come to the bay.

Already in its seventh edition, the festival’s theme this year is Colours and Shapes. Contemplative projects, video mappings, performances, parades and interactive projects dazzle with their capacity to transform the already beautiful Cascais landscape.

One of the 10 best light festivals in Europe, the 7th edition of this festival brings together 15 Portuguese and foreign artists and collectives. The Festival takes place along the bay, in an area that extends to the Cidadela and from there into the interior, highlighting the Marechal Carmona Park and the Paula Rego House of Stories. These are some of the highlights of Cascais that host the festival.

Last year, over 400,000 people passed through the town, according to the organisation. It is expected that this year an equal or greater number of spectators will turn up for the festival of light.

Until Sunday don’t miss the Lumina Festival of Light. At night, Cascais is now the centre of attention.
